Battle ANgel Live Action :)

Battle Angel Alita- Alita

So, I know I’m quite late with this news but… apparently, they are making a Battle Angel Alita live action!!!! But instead of that title, they are shortening it to Battle Angel. I really hope it’s gonna do justice to the manga or at least to what the mangaka wanted to show people. I haven’t really read the Battle Angel Alita manga, but I have read the sequel: BAA- Last Order. I think it’s quite good though the drawings really need to improve.

Anyway, Empire Magazine says that it’ll be James Cameron, the director of Avatar who’s directing it. Seeing how Avatar turned out… maybe we can be excited for this one? What really worries me is that it’s HOLLYWOOD who’s doing it. Tsk tsk. Risky. Especially after Dragon Ball. Epic fail. But this is a sci-fi… and the technology is amazing right now. Plus, it’s the director of Avatar!!! The effects were really awesome in that film. SO I guess we just wait for this.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 2

Alternate Titles:
Japanese: 涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱
Romaji: Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (2009)
Synonym: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009)

Kyon, your typical high school student, has long given up his belief in the supernatural. However, upon meeting Haruhi Suzumiya, he quickly finds out that it is the supernatural that she is interested in; aliens, time travelers and espers among other things. When Haruhi laments about the lack of intriguing clubs around school, Kyon inspires Haruhi to form her own club. As a result, the SOS Brigade is formed, a club which specializes in all that is the supernatural.
Much to his chagrin, Kyon, along with the silent bookworm, Yuki Nagato, the shy and timid Mikuru Asahina, and the perpetually smiling Itsuki Koizumi, are recruited as members. The story follows the crazy adventures that these four endure under their whimsical leader, Haruhi. The story is based on the light novels by Nagaru Tanigawa. (via
This season contains all eluded arcs that occured chronologically in the first season and even more.

Hmm.. This season is very very irritating, frustrating and I swear, I’ll never watch it again! MHS is a very good anime. I like it. I’d been on a ‘no anime coz it’s getting boring’ state for a year, but because of the first season, I decided to watch again. Sadly, the second season disappointed me so much.

Story. 5/10.

As I said, the first one was very good, very entertaining and seriously awesome. But for the second season, I almost destroyed my iMac computer just because I keep hearing the same lines, just different places. Arg! So frustrating. I don’t know what happened to the writers, if the lost their creative juices or whatever, but because of what they did, I’m sure, half or more than half the fans just dropped the stupid season. For those who wants to watch  it, beware of the Endless Arc. It’s gonna kill you.

Characters. 6/10.

How can there be development with those useless episodes?! The same things I knew from the first season, I just heard again. Nothing New. No development. Useless.

Art. Well, of course 8/10.

Thank God! The art is still the same as the first one, which i really loved.

Soundtrack. 5/10.

Nothing catchy. Typical Japanese songs. You can hear it thousands of times, you’ll never like it.

Over all: 6/10. I think I’m a little bit to harsh but what can I do? It was really so irritating and it destroyed my day!

Tomorrow: Evangelion (Platinum)

Evangelion: Platinum

Evangelion: Platinum

Information from Anime News Network:

Alternative title: Evangelion

Shin Seiki Evangelion (Japanese)

新世紀エヴァンゲリオン (Romaji)

Genres: action, drama, psychological, science fiction

Themes: Mecha, Military, post-apocalyptic,

Plot Summary:

At the age of 14 Shinji Ikari is summoned by his father to the city of Neo Tokyo-3 after several years of separation. There he unwillingly accepts the task of becoming the pilot of a giant robot by the name EVA01 and protect the world from the enigmatic invaders known as “angels.” Even though he repeatedly questions why he has accepted this mission from his estranged and cold father, his doing so helps him to gradually accept himself. However, why exactly are the angels attacking and what are his father’s true intentions are yet to be unraveled.

Well, first things first- I already watched Evangelion way back, when it’s very very popular. But I can’t remember anything decent except the Eva going berserk so I decided to watch it again. This time though, I’m watching the Platinum Edition.

Story- I can still remember bits of Evangelion… but not much. SO I’ll be fair and give a review for those episodes I re-watched, which are episodes 1-4. The first episode was so short and uneventful. Which sucks. Oh, when I say uneventful, I didn’t mean that there weren’t an Angel attacking and destroying stuff. I didn’t mean no bombs and missiles either. I just meant that Shinji didn’t get much action. God, he was just going EMO. Also, in the first episode, Rei was introduced but even though she’s mysterious she didn’t really steal any moment in my mind. As for the next episodes, I thin that the emo moments aren’t in the right timing. There are times that I want to know how he reacts, thinks about the world ‘on his back’ but nada! And when I want action, they show me his emo moments! Duh?!

Anyway, moving on- The story is very interesting. I’ll update this if it gets better. For now- 7/10.

Characters- Well, no one likable at the moment. Shinji is not so manly and as I said he’s so emo. But giving it a chance, I’ll say 8/10.

Art- Well, thank God for Platinum Edition! I love the new improved version! Shinji is no bishie but he’s just fine. And from what I saw when my sister is watching the old one… Definitely better. Score- 8.5/10

Over all – 7.8/10 Well Done.

Why just me?

How sad would it be to be a 14 year old saviour of the world and mankind? What happens if you mess up?

Can I really blame Shinji for being emotional most of the time?

What if tomorrow the world falls into destruction Can…no, WILL we entrust our lives to a 14 year old boy, even if he’s capable?

Tomorrow: Casshan: Robot Hunter

Casshan: Robot Hunter
Casshan: Robot Hunter
Information from Anime News Network:

Alternative title: Casshan
Casshern: Robot Hunter
キャシャーン (Japanese)
Genres: action, adventure, science fiction
Themes: Mecha
Plot Summary:

In the near future, robot technology has advanced to the point of self-awareness. Under the leadership of the “Black King,” machines have decimated the human population and conquered the world. Those who survived the early holocaust have been enslaved for life. But throughout the hardships, a lone hero appears as the savior of mankind. He is Casshan – a fusion of man and machine driven to combat Black King and his forces to the end.

Everything about it screams: AGAIN?!

Ok. Maybe I’m not being fair. After all this is a really old anime so I guess you can’t really avoid cliches, but still…

Going on to the review, story first. The story is about Casshan saving the humans from robots. He’s got his dog with him who’s also a robot. I think you can see that from the poster… Anyway, this story is so common I can tell you what will happen next. But, to make up for the cliche story, there were some twists to it.
  • Casshan’s father made the robots and it’s his dream that the robot is trying to achieve.
  • He’s a robot himself.
  • He recharges with sunlight. Cool aye?
  • He likes to fly with his legs folded. Seriously, it’s so funny.

Okay. Okay. I think that I’m going off topic. But anyway, even with the cliche story, I still think it’s interesting. Especially if I’m still in the 90’s. So story: 7/10

Another thing that really makes me annoyed is the lack of expression in both the drawings and the voices of the actors. Seriously, it was so American! Also, the script was so funny for me even though it sure is not funny. I guess, it’s because it’s too dramatic and too old…

The characters are okay. Character development is super lacking. I don’t have anything else to say. 7/10.

Drawing? Well, I guess it’s okay. I mean I watched it right? SO it’s okay. Watchable. Anyway, the robots are ugly that’s one thing. And the Black King is like an Alien not a robot. Casshan looks ugly in his costume and there were times that he looks so fat. So is Luna. What’s with the costume?! So, for art- 7/10.

Anyway, last comment: it’s too cliche and it is old. But in a sense it’s still worth watching and writing a review about. Especially if you are a fan of slaving humans!

The humans are killing the Earth.

Aside from the cliche stuff about being a super hero for others, Casshan also depicts the destruction humans are causing Earth. It so sad to say that what Black King said was true. We don’t have the right to live here. I’m not a nature lover but I understand that.

WHat will happen in the future if the robots tried to eliminate us? I wonder what the reason would be.

Tomorrow: Hotel

Volume: 1
Chapter: 1
Genre: Sci-Fi, Drama
Author: Boichi

In the year 2272 A.D. Mankind is extinct. A computer continues to live on in order to complete a mission in a world where all life has gone extinct. This is a record of those 27 million years of its heroic struggle. (via MyAnimeList)

Standing all alone, protecting its ‘clients,’ stood a hotel.

Hotel is a one shot manga showing the life of a computer inside a ‘hotel’ full of DNAs. It’s been existing for 27 million years, just protecting the life the future will have. What’s really unforgettable here is the fact that the computer is like a human with feelings. Its way of narrating is like that of a human. It would be nice if there really will be a computer like this but if that happens, What’s stopping God from taking all humans and replacing them with computers?

As I was reading the manga, I felt sad every time the computer, Louis talks about years as if it’s just hours. How sad would that be, if it’s a human? Anyway, what I really like about the manga is that in the end, his suffering wasn’t in vain. The Earth started to heal and maybe… just maybe, the future humans will learn from the mistakes humans are making now.

What if we really disappear?

It would be so sad waking up tomorrow then knowing that you would die soon and everything your doing now won’t be for you. Even though society tells us that the right thing to do is help preserve the future, it would be hard. You know it won’t be about you… why do it?

My 10 Favorite Live Actions: Casshern

Okay. I’d watched more than 25 live actions and after my internet and phone bills are paid, I’ll start watching again. I don’t know about you guys, but I definitely want to see my favorite anime characters moving and real. I’m not saying that Live Actions are good imitation of manga and anime- coz they are not– but still. It’s fun to watch it and criticize the directors and the actors. Plus, most of the “cosplayers” are really hot. You don’t believe me? Then don’t! But still look at this, okay?! By the way, this isn’t TOP 10. Just 10. I can’t  bring myself to rate them.

Reincarnated with an invincible body to fight an iron devil. If Casshern does not do it, who will?

Director: Kazuaki Kiriya
Writers: Kazuaki Kiriya (screenplay) Dai Sato (writer)

Casshern Poster Again!!

Casshern Poster Again!!

Isn’t it obvious how I like Casshern’s pose?! Well, I really like it. And it certainly caught my eye when I’m browsing through a lot of dvd in            Hamilton City Libraries. I already told you, haven’t I? I’m still pretty poor! We just moved here and still waiting for Permanent Residency.Anyway,    back to this awesome film, I can’t believe no one ever mention it in My Anime List! They all got this Anime-to-Live Action Clubs but sadly,  surprisingly, “pissingly”, it’s not there!

This film, as I said, is really great! I mean, just the effects of the movie are outstanding! Honestly. It’s like watching anime with really modern  and realistic effects. Kudos to the costume designer for not making Casshern wear his “hat.” Seriously. If he wore that, it’s going to be hilarious!

Judging from the synopsis of each Casshern Anime Version, I’m guessing that this Live Action is only the same as Anime in save-the-humans-from-  foreign-beings thing. Because from what I’d read and watched, robots are the antagonists in the anime but in the live action, they are man made  humans -or human looking- that were cast out from their place. I mean, they were just thrown away. Then during that period, where the human  looking humans were being created, Casshern was resurrected by his father coz he died in the war. He even left a fiance behind. Anyway, Casshern  was so strong that he had to wear this suit always. He then left his “hat” when his fiancé’s house was thrashed. They, the human looking humans  and him, fought. That’s the basic plot. But of course there are some conflicts.

STORY. I love it. Of course the concept is not that original, actually in my own language we call it: Gasgas na. But the conflict and the development  is really great. It’s a film but I was satisfied with the story and I didn’t think for a second: What the hell is happening? So that’s great. Nothing  much to say, I already said it before, I won’t spoil things for those who want to watch it. If you want spoilers try someone else’s blog.
In short, the story is  ABOUT LIES, LOVE, COINCIDENCE AND HUMANITY. You’ll be shocked and saddened by the coincidences. Anyway, score: 8.5/10

CHARACTERS. Not much time for character development but surprisingly, I didn’t mind. It’s like you can understand it, them, even without further explanations and development. I also think that each actor suit his role. Especially Casshern and his fiancé.

Score: 9/10

EFFECTS AND THE MOVIE ITSELF. Dude, I said it before and I’m saying it again. AWESOME. You know what? I can’t believe this was in 2004! The effects can rival those now. Seriously! It’s like, if every Live Action – with the same or close genres of course – were like this, WoW! The effects are like anime style. Check out some photos here. Some people said that the effects confused them. Well, it didn’t confuse me. But it certainly enchanted me. Score: 9.5/10

Sorry for not posting the whole story, I just don’t want to spoil anything. Anyway, if you want to talk about it or something, just tell me! And you can look at it at Wikipedia.

Gundam 00

Gundam Anime
Gundam 00 Anime

It is the year A.D. 2307. Fossil fuels on Earth have been depleted entirely, with mankind turning to the next available power source: solar energy. During this time, 3 orbital elevators with solar power generation systems are built, each under control by the Union (formerly United States of America), the Human Reformist Alliance (Russia, China and India) and the AEU (Europe). However, not all countries are able to enjoy the benefits of this system, leading to widespread resentment and war. Arising out of the conflict, a mysterious non-profit military organization known as Celestial Being appears, dedicated to end all warfare using Mobile Suits called Gundam. This begins the stories of Gundam Meisters (pilots) Setsuna F. Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Allelujah Haptism and Tiera Erde as they are thrown into conflict between the 3 superpowers and the other various factions

Gundam 00 is the latest installment in the Gundam Series. When I first heard about it I thought, “This should be good. It would be much better than Gundam Seed and Destiny” And I was right. Of course, Kira and Athrun is much hotter than Setsuna F. Seiei but he’s just right. And the conflict is something new. It’s not a two way or three way war but a four way!

But I didn’t know that until I actually watched it. Sure, I know it’s going to be great but the synopsis is awfully long. So I decided not to read it. If not for Setsuna’s face, I would have ignored it. So, a year later and here I am. Getting hooked to this great anime.

First is the  STORY . The synopsis is already there, above, but I’ll still say some things and hopefully, I won’t spoil anything.

Setsuna and the other Gundam Meisters are part of a private army called Celestial Beings. For those who doesn’t know what Celestial Beings are, let me tell you what it is. It’s something that relate to the sky. Example: angels, asteroids, and stuff like that. Anyway, Celestial Beings want to eradicate war and uses force to do so. Three big organizations, Union in America, Human Reform League in Asia and  Advanced European Union in Europe, are the other three in this four way war. But unlike Gundam Seed or Destiny, it  doesn’t really have a full scale war, or at least not yet. What’s happening is the 3 are trying to capture a Gundam and rule the world.

I have so many questions about this anime. But I don’t want any spoilers so I don’t search for answers unless it’s given in the episode I’m watching. So, first question, is A alive or what? Second, who’s the Princess? What country is she a princess? Third, Miss Sumeragi, is she the only commander or something? Where are the other leaders of Celestial Being? Fourth, are there only 4 Gundams? Fifth, What is Celestial beings true wish?

I’m going to give the score now. 9/10

CHARACTERS . I already said that as of now, the character development is not that good. But it’s getting better and better. And the characters are all mysterious and well, they are all likeable. I’m really interested in Tieria’s life though. Who is he really?

Score: 8.5/10

ART . Consistent and most characters are hotties! He he. And, it’s just new. So, of course, the art is really modern and everything.

Score: 9/10 (Sometimes Setsuna is not that cute! And well, the characters look alike.)

Overall: Great story. Good Characters. Great art. What can I say? Great anime. 9/10

If you like this anime: Try watching the other Gundam Anime and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. Lelouch and his Knights are like Celestial Beings. They want peace and they are prepared to be hated and despised for it.
