Synopsis

Yamada Taro, a freshman on a scholarship at Ichinomiya Private Senior High School, is high-achieving, strikingly handsome, and truly athletic and seems perfect. But he is actually extremely poor. The story humorously portrays Taro, who tackles problems that occur because of his poverty, and his six younger brothers and sisters.

Review

Well, first, I want to tell you  what I have to do to watch this. Now, I didn’t know that this was a live action before. But knew Arashi because of Jun Matsumoto, so I wanted to watch this. My brother owns a DVD, and take note: It has ENGLISH Subtitles, and anyway, I have to watch it without him knowing or else, I’m dead. So I went inside our family room. Turn on my DVD player, close the door ( I can’t lock it! They’ll know I’m up to no good! ), then I watched it. But every time the gate squeaked, I would automatically close the dvd player and go outside. In the end, it took me more than two long weeks to watch it.

STORY. I love it. I hate Nino but I love Sakurai. Meaning, there’s my first reason why I watched it. So, the story is funny and a li’l stupid. I can’t believe that they all thought Nino is rich. But aside from that, it was funny. Though it’s quite typical in a way, the twist that were put in it did the trick and transformed it into a good adaptation.

The series doesn’t revolve around love. It’s mainly on friendship. I like how he has a lot of siblings and a really weird mom… and dad, actually. Oh, wait. Did I mention that their family is stupid because they were given a chance to live in a big house with servants, no charge or anything, but they left it?! Well, now I did. Anyway, it’s quite surprising that instead of being bitter, Sakurai  actually became friends with Nino.

It’s quite amusing also when a guy fell for Nino when at first he was all, I hate him! He’s a liar! and stuff. And, when Sakurai’s grandpa thought that Nino is his gf because he’s wearing a girl’s clothes and when the girl who likes Nino imagines things. All those parts really made me laugh!

CHARACTERS. Hmm.. Sakurai’s character is a little devilish. It seems like he’s using Nino for his amusement. But not always. Nino’s character is funny and responsible. He’s a great brother. All the other characters are unique. That made the show more entertaining.

LIVE ACTION. The effects, soundtracks, and settings are all funny. The acting was a little exaggerated at times but still great. Very funny and worth all the nervousness I had. I love it. Good story with depth.
