Why is it my favorite?
Hmm. Doing this is actually like writing a review. So, I guess thats fine. But I’m going to update this from time to time. I’d watched these live actions years. or year ago, so it’s not that fresh on my mind. But I’ll try giving a fair review to these live actions.
You guys don’t know what I have to go through to watch all episodes of this Live Action! Yes, I had to go through something. I came from a country with no internet limitation but it’s very very slow. And since I live near a place called Tunko, which have little stores in the bangketa, which means the side of the street, I just go there and buy pirated DVDs. Of course, since it’s much easier and better to buy the DVD I did. Coz in my country, the dramas are dubbed. The voice actors are own celebrities and trust me. They’re SO BAD! Also, the dramas in TV are full of cuts. Anyway, this DVD I bought is, without a doubt, made by stupid morons. In terms of Subtitle, that is. I’m good at English, and I”m not bragging. So when I watched that DVD I felt all my English language knowledge going down the drain. I can’t believe how people can be so stupid with an easy language such as English. Honestly, I don’t remember the exact words but, it was so depressing and frustrating at the same time. There were times when I was like, WTH? It’s like speaking to my MAlaysian friend who’s studying English. You know the feeling when you just want to correct them and say BAKA!? Anyway, into the review, please. Okay. First is the STORY.
Think about it. I was able to go through 30 episodes, what do think that means? What does it mean to go through 30 episodes of a Taiwanese drama with Morenglish subtitle? Of course it can only mean one thing. IT’S WORTH IT. The story is funny and it’s not rushed or anything. It has its own pace. You really get sucked into their world and when watching it, it feels like you’re there too. The main plot is not original. A girl who’s stupid and a guy who’s the best. Girl fell in love. Boy will fall in love(?!) But the conflicts and twists are different. Why? Well, because girl has to live with guy after he dumps her! Not enough to convince you? How about if girl went to guy’s apartment and was about to give him a gift- a very beautiful one- and girl imagines guy in various circumstances such as gay? playboy? sex maniac? And what if the girl has that wild imagination always? Still not enough? Alright. I’ll try again. What if the guy’s mom likes girl so much that she’s willing to do everything to bring them together? And oh, I mean EVERYTHING. Okay… Still not enough? Then this is my last card. My triumph card. The guy who the girl likes and the other guy who likes the girl are incredibly HOT! Huh! See! Your convinced!
Now that I told you about the hotties in the drama, let’s move on to CHARACTERS. The development is good. The characters are lovable especially the main ones. Ariel Lin is a very good actress. I can say this because every time she does something really silly for Zi SHu, I literally want to smash our TV and hide under the bed. That’s how effective she is. Joe Cheng, aside from making me all hot and flustered, also makes me want to kill him sometimes. He’s hot but very cold towards Xiang Qin but really loves her. You could really feel it. The comedic part of the series plays well alongside the drama and romance. Also, Jiro Wang, the guy who likes Ariel Lin in the film, portrayed his character well. He’s pathetic, at the same time very lovable. He’s hardworking and he tries his best for his love. Sadly, Xiang Qin doesn’t love him back. Over all, all characters made a good impression to me and they have a little, yet special place in my heart.
The MOVIE. It was okay. the location, I mean setting, is good. the actors are also good. Every thing’s good. I really love it. I particularly love one part. Coz it has great effcts. Spoilers. Okay?
Zi SHu got engage to this girl and during their date, he left her to be with Xiang qin. Starting from that part, when Zi Shu’s imagining Xiang Qin, to the part where the girl put the ring in the water, wine, then went out, look sideways, then left. The effects was really good. I can’t particularly describe it but it’s like the effects made you feel it more and… arg. Just watch it. You’ll see.
Okay. The scores. STORY: 9/10; CHARACTERS: 9/10; MOVIE: 9/10
OVER ALL: WHat do you think? 10/10. it’s not perfect. But you can really enjoy it. It makes you laugh, cry, imagine, love and dream. A really good drama.
Okay. I’d watched more than 25 live actions and after my internet and phone bills are paid, I’ll start watching again. I don’t know about you guys, but I definitely want to see my favorite anime characters moving and real. I’m not saying that Live Actions are good imitation of manga and anime- coz they are not– but still. It’s fun to watch it and criticize the directors and the actors. Plus, most of the “cosplayers” are really hot. You don’t believe me? Then don’t! But still look at this, okay?! By the way, this isn’t TOP 10. Just 10. I can’t bring myself to rate them.
Reincarnated with an invincible body to fight an iron devil. If Casshern does not do it, who will?Director: Kazuaki Kiriya
Writers: Kazuaki Kiriya (screenplay) Dai Sato (writer) Release Date: 24 April 2004 (Japan) Genre: Adventure, Action, Sci-Fi, Drama
Isn’t it obvious how I like Casshern’s pose?! Well, I really like it. And it certainly caught my eye when I’m browsing through a lot of dvd in Hamilton City Libraries. I already told you, haven’t I? I’m still pretty poor! We just moved here and still waiting for Permanent Residency.Anyway, back to this awesome film, I can’t believe no one ever mention it in My Anime List! They all got this Anime-to-Live Action Clubs but sadly, surprisingly, “pissingly”, it’s not there!
This film, as I said, is really great! I mean, just the effects of the movie are outstanding! Honestly. It’s like watching anime with really modern and realistic effects. Kudos to the costume designer for not making Casshern wear his “hat.” Seriously. If he wore that, it’s going to be hilarious!Judging from the synopsis of each Casshern Anime Version, I’m guessing that this Live Action is only the same as Anime in save-the-humans-from- foreign-beings thing. Because from what I’d read and watched, robots are the antagonists in the anime but in the live action, they are man made humans -or human looking- that were cast out from their place. I mean, they were just thrown away. Then during that period, where the human looking humans were being created, Casshern was resurrected by his father coz he died in the war. He even left a fiance behind. Anyway, Casshern was so strong that he had to wear this suit always. He then left his “hat” when his fiancé’s house was thrashed. They, the human looking humans and him, fought. That’s the basic plot. But of course there are some conflicts.
STORY. I love it. Of course the concept is not that original, actually in my own language we call it: Gasgas na. But the conflict and the development is really great. It’s a film but I was satisfied with the story and I didn’t think for a second: What the hell is happening? So that’s great. Nothing much to say, I already said it before, I won’t spoil things for those who want to watch it. If you want spoilers try someone else’s blog. In short, the story is ABOUT LIES, LOVE, COINCIDENCE AND HUMANITY. You’ll be shocked and saddened by the coincidences. Anyway, score: 8.5/10
CHARACTERS. Not much time for character development but surprisingly, I didn’t mind. It’s like you can understand it, them, even without further explanations and development. I also think that each actor suit his role. Especially Casshern and his fiancé.
EFFECTS AND THE MOVIE ITSELF. Dude, I said it before and I’m saying it again. AWESOME. You know what? I can’t believe this was in 2004! The effects can rival those now. Seriously! It’s like, if every Live Action – with the same or close genres of course – were like this, WoW! The effects are like anime style. Check out some photos here. Some people said that the effects confused them. Well, it didn’t confuse me. But it certainly enchanted me. Score: 9.5/10
Sorry for not posting the whole story, I just don’t want to spoil anything. Anyway, if you want to talk about it or something, just tell me! And you can look at it at Wikipedia.
