Plot Summary:

Yukino Miyazawa is really, really vain, and loves to hear people praise her. She’s always been the best at everything, and always tries to look perfect. But when Yukino goes to high school, she’s finally upstaged–by Souichiro Arima, who scores better on the entrance exams and instantly snatches the attention of the class. By accident, Arima finds out that Yukino is just pretending, and this starts off a series of events that lead to Yukino and Arima falling in love. They then have to cope with a lot of obstacles in their relationship.

Vanity is the ugliest sin of all.

Just from the synopsis, I’m pretty sure anyone will try Kare Kano. It’s absolutely one of the best if not the best!

Let’s start from the story. Perfect girl. Perfect guy. Falls in love. Cliche right? But what if it’s- Vain girl. Emo guy. Falls in love. Something different right? Kare Kano surpassed the cliche stories in high school and showed the viewers a wonderful and pure first love. And it’s not just about love, it’s about friendship, courage, and the society humans had created for them to live in. The story also deals with love at school, how it may affect you badly and how it might become your motivation. Finding your true friends is also one of the main themes in the series. When Miyasawa showed her true colors to her ‘so-called’ friends, everybody just went away. Courage can also be seen as Miyasawa shows her true colors to the people around her and as Arima starts to accept himself and the people around him. And of course, the anime deals with the ‘feelings’ you have for the person you love. The firsts and hopefully the lasts.

The story is very funny and fun to watch. And the drama is well combined with the comedy. it never felt out of place. The story deserves a 9/10. The only problem to it is the ending. It seemed so rush.

Going to the characters, with all the characters in the series it’s amazing how after I watched the anime, I felt like I know all of them and we are close. Of course I’m not saying that I don’t have any unanswered question, coz I do have some, but the way everybody got their own story told is really good. I like how Miyasawa is a pretentious person but very fun and heart warming. I like how Arima seems so kind but inside he’s different. I like how all characters have their own personalities! And the part where Miyasawa suddenly becomes small and weird is really fun. And it is really entertaining to see how her new friends changed her and how she changed them as well.

The characters deserve a 9/10. I just can’t bring myself to give a perfect score. Sorry.

Some flaws of the anime are the following: There was one episode when the art was hideous. I think it was the part where the fans drew the pics used. Oh God, It was so revolting. Seriously. The next one is the ending. It was so rush and not easy to understand and it’s such a cliff hanger!

Though the drawings are good, there where times when you’ll just think- “The artists might be getting lazy.” Also I didn’t like the soundtrack. I just didn’t like the music in the anime…

So over all, with the story having 9, the characters 9, the art 8, and the soundtrack 7- 8.5/10. Stupid averaging!

But trust me, it’s such a good anime to miss.

Can you do it, enjoy today and not think of tomorrow?

It’s amazing how people enjoy the present, tell themselves that at least they felt it, they experienced it and not worry about the future. I would prefer to not feel and experience it at all… since I know I’ll lose it someday. If only God was that kind.
