Alternative title: Casshan Casshern: Robot Hunter キャシャーン (Japanese) Genres: action, adventure, science fiction Themes: Mecha Plot Summary:
In the near future, robot technology has advanced to the point of self-awareness. Under the leadership of the “Black King,” machines have decimated the human population and conquered the world. Those who survived the early holocaust have been enslaved for life. But throughout the hardships, a lone hero appears as the savior of mankind. He is Casshan – a fusion of man and machine driven to combat Black King and his forces to the end.
Everything about it screams: AGAIN?!
Ok. Maybe I’m not being fair. After all this is a really old anime so I guess you can’t really avoid cliches, but still…
Going on to the review, story first. The story is about Casshan saving the humans from robots. He’s got his dog with him who’s also a robot. I think you can see that from the poster… Anyway, this story is so common I can tell you what will happen next. But, to make up for the cliche story, there were some twists to it.
- Casshan’s father made the robots and it’s his dream that the robot is trying to achieve.
- He’s a robot himself.
- He recharges with sunlight. Cool aye?
- He likes to fly with his legs folded. Seriously, it’s so funny.
Okay. Okay. I think that I’m going off topic. But anyway, even with the cliche story, I still think it’s interesting. Especially if I’m still in the 90’s. So story: 7/10
Another thing that really makes me annoyed is the lack of expression in both the drawings and the voices of the actors. Seriously, it was so American! Also, the script was so funny for me even though it sure is not funny. I guess, it’s because it’s too dramatic and too old…
The characters are okay. Character development is super lacking. I don’t have anything else to say. 7/10.
Drawing? Well, I guess it’s okay. I mean I watched it right? SO it’s okay. Watchable. Anyway, the robots are ugly that’s one thing. And the Black King is like an Alien not a robot. Casshan looks ugly in his costume and there were times that he looks so fat. So is Luna. What’s with the costume?! So, for art- 7/10.
Anyway, last comment: it’s too cliche and it is old. But in a sense it’s still worth watching and writing a review about. Especially if you are a fan of slaving humans!
The humans are killing the Earth.
Aside from the cliche stuff about being a super hero for others, Casshan also depicts the destruction humans are causing Earth. It so sad to say that what Black King said was true. We don’t have the right to live here. I’m not a nature lover but I understand that.
WHat will happen in the future if the robots tried to eliminate us? I wonder what the reason would be.
