Other Information:
Genres: drama, horror, psychological, romance, supernatural
Themes: ghosts, gothic

Plot Summary:
Eiri works at his uncle’s antique shop, and one day stumbles across a glass. Upon touching the glass, he receives visions from what he finds out to be a girl, Cossette, haunting the glass. She’s been searching for over 250 years for someone who could see her, and now she needs his help.

Review:
This anime had been i=on my mind for a long long time. I’d read a lot of synopsis and I was thinking that it would be a good anime. It was. But not the way I expected it to be. What I thought was, the protagonist, Eiri, would try to find the objects connected to Cossete’s death and that would be free her. Frankly, I don’t know if it’s a good thing that it’s not the way I imagine it. Anyway, i like it but I it felt weird when it was fantasy-like rather than supernatural. What I mean is, there were parts like this:
Cossette Screenshot 2

I hope you get what I mean.

So, for the story, I think that it’s good. The main story is about finding true love that will save herself. But I just think that it’s kinda stupid how the “things” that was present during that time are harboring a grudge against the guy. I mean, come on! That’s crossing the line of fiction. So, Cossette is going to have Eiri killed just so the “things” wil have peace. Duh. She’s the one who needs peace not those “things.” As for the characters, Cossette is literally little. She looks like a 12 or 11 year old for F’s sake! That’s so lolita! And Eiri is neurotic. The girl who likes him is nosy. Arg. What I do like about the characters and the story is that Cossette fell in love with him and wanted things to stop.

In the anime, almost every scene is dark and gloomy, it’s also made in silhouette-style. The setting is either his antique shop or some random street. Not that I mind.  I also don’t mind the fact that a lot of things aren’t explained and that no development where made whatsoever. And if there was, well, it was so little. And seriously, it was a good anime worth watching. Something’s not right though. i just don’t know what.

Score: Story- 8 Characters- 7 OST- 7 Anime- 8
Over all: 7.5 or just simply 8.

Recommended if you like supernatural and fantasy with drama and if you don’t mind cliffhangers.

Review:

I was browsing through Metanorn when I saw this anime. It looks really dark and somewhat scary so I decided to download it from God-knows-where. Anyway, the first episode is fulfilling but short. The art is definitely good and it reminds me of Baccano. The first episode is about a guy who has a mysterious and traumatic past. Well, it’s not so mysterious since they show bits of it. Anyway, the main character is actually a typical one. He comes from a rich, controlling and strict family; he’s father doesn’t love him; he’s got a somewhat traumatic childhood. The other character is a woman who’s working in a female version of a host bar (I seriously don’t know what they call that. Is it still a host club? Well, whatever). She’s looking for her husband and well, fate decided that the two of them (the rich guy and the woman) to meet. And then something happened.

Though the art is good and the plot isn’t that bad either, I was surprised to see the ending. I was waiting for a more gruesome scene. But instead it was a slice of life and emo thing. But it’s still good. I was just hoping for more I guess. But since it’s just the start, I’ll be sure to continue watching it.

Score: Art- 8/10. Story- 7/10. Characters- 8/10. Anime- 8/10.

Over All: 8/10.

It’s been a while.

Oh Man. High School seniors sure have it tough. I have to study a lot. I’m so tired and my mother keeps bugging me about massaging her. God, did you let me live just to massage her? I seriously hope not. Anyway, I’ll try updating again after this hectic month. Sorry about that.

Before finally saying g-bye for a month, look what I did: Wait. It’s not good but simple and well, I like it. ANyway, here:

Alternative Title:
Japanese: バッカーノ!
Other Information:
Genres: action, adventure, comedy, fantasy, horror

Synopsis:
Each of the stories in the series involves several unrelated plots intersecting and crossing each other as events spiral farther and farther out of control. Immortal alchemists, mafia operated speakeasies, and many other elements of pulp fiction mashed together for a world straight out of the movies.
During the late 1930s in Chicago, the transcontinental train, Flying Pussyfoot, is starting its legendary journey that will leave a trail of blood all over the country. At the same time in New York, the ambitious scientist Szilard and his unwilling aide Ennis, are looking for missing bottles of the immortality elixir. In addition, a war between the mafia groups is getting worse. On board the Advena Avis, in 1711, alchemists are about to learn the price of immortality.

Review:
Whoever said that this is a horror anime, sure is weird…

Baccano jumps from one timeline to another. Suddenly you’re at 1930, then 1932, then 1931, and so on and so on. At first it’s seriously confusing. Especially if you don’t know the names of the characters. Then the changes in the time also makes you want to pause every time. But even though it was like that, as soon as you get to the 3rd episode, you’ll enjoy it. Not coz that’s when it gets better, it’s coz that’s when you memorize their names.
Anyway, the story gets a 9/10 for me.

The main plot is actually simple. People are just trapped inside the moving train. ANd when I say trapped- I mean it. Because -this is the complicated part- not only do they have a group of ‘cult’ wanting to sacrifice all of them, they also have a group of psychopaths who wouldn’t want anything more than to kill them. ANd as if that wasn’t enough, there’s another group who wants to take over(?) the train! And of course that’s not all, there’s also a pair of wanted thieves board! And wait, there’s more. They have an assassin for a conductor! Now, think that’s already too much?! Well, think again. Coz there are immortals aboard too! I wonder what the people inside did in their past lives that made them deserving to have this kind of fate… Any ideas?

After that complicated stuff, I think it’s safe to say that it is, indeed, worthy of 9. But what makes this really a great story is the fact that they are all connected! Every main character is connected to each other, that it is so freaky. And even though it’s complicated, as you watch it, you begin to catch up with what’s happening and maybe, even make predictions on what’ll happen next. Anyway, the anime is really easy to understand once you get the hang of it.

As for the characters, 9/10 too.

The characters are all lovable and unique. It would take me forever to tell you why, so I’ll just make it short. THEY”RE THE BEST! It’s so hard to explain why, they just are!

For the art, it’s not that great but it’s good. 8/10.
I think this review is short so just let me make one final comment:
BAccano is worthy of your time, no matter how busy you are. The episodes always leaves you hanging. Always, always, the action is in the last part of the episode. And it’s actually frustrating if you don’t have all the episodes. And to tell you the truth, it’s too short. But it’s great. It never got boring and definitely one of the best anime this century!
Last one, I hope you won’t think that I’m over rating this, this is all my opinion. If it’s different from you then, it is. We are different after all.

Alternate Titles:
Japanese: 涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱
Romaji: Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (2009)
Synonym: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009)

Synopsis:
Kyon, your typical high school student, has long given up his belief in the supernatural. However, upon meeting Haruhi Suzumiya, he quickly finds out that it is the supernatural that she is interested in; aliens, time travelers and espers among other things. When Haruhi laments about the lack of intriguing clubs around school, Kyon inspires Haruhi to form her own club. As a result, the SOS Brigade is formed, a club which specializes in all that is the supernatural.
Much to his chagrin, Kyon, along with the silent bookworm, Yuki Nagato, the shy and timid Mikuru Asahina, and the perpetually smiling Itsuki Koizumi, are recruited as members. The story follows the crazy adventures that these four endure under their whimsical leader, Haruhi. The story is based on the light novels by Nagaru Tanigawa. (via MyAnimeList.net)
This season contains all eluded arcs that occured chronologically in the first season and even more.

Review:

Hmm.. This season is very very irritating, frustrating and I swear, I’ll never watch it again! MHS is a very good anime. I like it. I’d been on a ‘no anime coz it’s getting boring’ state for a year, but because of the first season, I decided to watch again. Sadly, the second season disappointed me so much.

Story. 5/10.

As I said, the first one was very good, very entertaining and seriously awesome. But for the second season, I almost destroyed my iMac computer just because I keep hearing the same lines, just different places. Arg! So frustrating. I don’t know what happened to the writers, if the lost their creative juices or whatever, but because of what they did, I’m sure, half or more than half the fans just dropped the stupid season. For those who wants to watch  it, beware of the Endless Arc. It’s gonna kill you.

Characters. 6/10.

How can there be development with those useless episodes?! The same things I knew from the first season, I just heard again. Nothing New. No development. Useless.

Art. Well, of course 8/10.

Thank God! The art is still the same as the first one, which i really loved.

Soundtrack. 5/10.

Nothing catchy. Typical Japanese songs. You can hear it thousands of times, you’ll never like it.

Over all: 6/10. I think I’m a little bit to harsh but what can I do? It was really so irritating and it destroyed my day!

Shoujo Manga: Watashi ni xx Shinasai!

Watashi ni xx Shinasai!

Watashi ni xx Shinasai!

Alternate Titles:
Japanese: わたしに××しなさい!
English: Do xx To Me!

Synopsis:
In class, she’s a sort of zoned-out girl, and he’s the year one class’ most perfect, good-looking guy. But the two of them have a secret, and their extraordinary “love experience” will start now!

Review:

Story. 7/10.

Truthfully speaking, this manga is full of ‘typicalness.’ Let me tell you the reasons:
  • Popular guy, love by all, has a fan club, has ‘a secret’.
  • Scary looking girl, feared by everybody, even teachers; has a ’secret.’
  • Oh… she also have a childhood friend.
  • Popular guy and scary looking girl, ends up being together.
  • Bullying scary girl because Popular Guy, is everybody’s property.
  • Oh… childhood friend? In love with Scary Girl.
  • Relationship fake but becomes reality.
  • Another one. Both don’t know what ‘real love’ is.
I got 8. And it’s only been 5 chapters so far. Tsk. Tsk. Not really a good thing. I think the only thing that separates this from others is the fact that they have a fake relationship for the girl to find out what true love is. It makes people curious. I really want to now what else she’s going to make him do.

Actually, giving a 7 is me being very generous. Every time I’m clicking my mouse for a new page, I know what’s going to happen. Maybe it’s just me, maybe its different for you guys. But it’s really annoying. With all that taken to consideration, I still urge you to read it. It’s entertaining even with all the cliche scenes. I actually fet excited while reading it.

Characters.7/10

As I said, typical. A popular guy who’s so nice and cheerful, blah. blah, but in truth, he’s just a jerk. A scary girl who’s not really scary but misunderstood. And of course, the one thing most shoujo manga and other love story can never be without… the childhood friend! Now, understand why I have to give it 7?

Well, it’s supposed to be 6/10, but I like how the childhood friend is somewhat mysterious. With no eyes showing and all. Like he’s a part of a past, you already forgot. That’s the feeling he gives of. Anyway, I also like how this protagonists suddenly creates lines from what’s happening to her. but I don’t like the “What’s this I’m feeling?” drama. Ugh.

Art. 8/10.

Whoa. This manga has an awesome art. I like the drawing so much, it kept me going! What’s sad is the guy isn’t that handsome. The girl is a total babe, but the guy, average compared to the manga I already read.

With all that… the over all score is 7/10. The manga is worth reading and adding to your watch list… but not really if you prefer original stuff and stories with more depth.
